Erosion, floods, droughts...
These events reduce crop yields and threaten farm productivity. Due to climate change, the situation with these phenomena is not about to improve, as more extreme weather events such as droughts or heavy rains are predicted. On top of that, deep tillage decreases the organic matter content of soils and their resilience to this events, and as a consequence their fertility. For several decades, farmers have been looking for sustainable ways of farming to face these issues and to ensure their future.
Currently, more and more emphasis is being placed on this topic, with regenerative agriculture being considered one of the most effective solutions in the long run, especially in the case of problems related to soil erosion and greenhouse gas capture.
In this sense, Soufflet Agro Romania founded in 2015 the SoilTEQ Club, focused on improving soil fertility. This Club is an analytical union of farmers interested in sustainable agricultural technologies and looking for ways to optimize production costs.
’’When I go out on the field, I'm primarily interested in how the plants feel,'' said Sky Agriculture director, David Guy. This is the key to the end result, and it generally doesn't matter what color the machines are that provide good plant conditions. This is the key to the end result, and it generally doesn't matter what color the machines are that provide good plant conditions. Any machine (seed drill, cultivator, etc.) is just a tool to perform certain operations. When the farmer begins to think about what equipment to buy - he first imagines a tractor. However, the tractor is not working. Also, hinged trailers and aggregates do not cultivate crops - they only perform certain operations that help in the cultivation process. Also, hinged trailers and aggregates do not cultivate crops - they only perform certain operations that help in the cultivation process. And the main thing is done by the plant itself, so we need to focus on plants. Apparently, this has become an impetus for the SKY concept - not to sell machinery, but to give farmers the opportunity to make more money with cover crop technology and Sky. That’s means, it is an integrated solution that can solve several problems simultaneously: improving soil quality and increasing yields through sustainable investments in fertilizers, seeds and plant protection products.
Within the SOILTEQ clubs we put the soil and its fertility in the center of our activities, we find that the positive changes are reflected in the other parts of the system: climate change, pollution, water quality, soil erosion, etc. In order to work properly with the soil and therefore with the whole system, we can follow the basic steps of the SOILTEQ philosophy.
After several years of activity of the SOILTEQ Club, I found a sowing machine, designed especially for sowing in cover crops.
Therefore, we now offer a complete solution - SOILTEQ technology and a sowing machine built by Sky Agriculture. The concept is illustrated and explained in the SKY + SOILTEQ document.
